FAILURE TO LAUNCH / JUST LIKE HEAVEN / ELIZABETHTOWN
Failure To Launch: Some men just need a little push.
Tripp (Matthew McConaughey) has never been able to leave the nest. He's always had some reason or other, but now his desperate parents have had enough. They hire the gorgeous and talented girl of his dreams (Sarah Jessica Parker) to get him to move out of the house.
Just Like Heaven: When David (Mark Ruffalo) rented his quaint San Francisco apartment the last thing he expected or wanted was a room mate. He had only begun to make a complete mess of the place when a pretty but decidedly controlling young woman named Elizabeth (Reese Witherspoon) suddenly shows up adamantly insisting the apartment is hers. David assumes there's been a giant misunderstanding until Elizabeth disappears as mysteriously as she appeared. Changing the locks does nothing to deter Elizabeth, who begins to appear and disappear at will mostly to rebuke David for his personal living habits in her apartment.
Convinced she is a ghost, David tries to help Elizabeth cross over to the other side. But while Elizabeth has discovered she does have a distinctly ethereal quality she can walk through walls she is equally convinced that she is somehow still alive and isnt crossing over anywhere. As Elizabeth and David search for the truth about who Elizabeth is and how she came to be in her present state, their relationship deepens into love. Unfortunately, they have very little time before their prospects for a future together permanently fade away.
Elizabethtown: After causing the Oregon shoe company he works for to lose hundreds of millions of dollars, Drew Baylor is fired for his mistake, and promptly also dumped by his girlfriend, Ellen. On the verge of suicide, Drew is oddly given a new purpose in life when he is brought back to his family's small Kentucky hometown of Elizabethtown following the death of his father, Mitch, as it falls to him to make sure that his dying wishes are fulfilled. On the way home, Drew meets a flight attendant, Claire Colburn, with whom he falls in love, in a romance that helps his life get back on track.

Just Like Heaven: A lonely landscape architect (Mark Ruffalo) falls for the spirit of beautiful woman (Reese Witherspoon) who used to live in his new apartment.
Love Actually: Richard Curtis' Love Actually tells eight tales that explore the many aspects of love. The new Prime Minister (Hugh Grant) falls for a member of his Downing Street staff (Martine McCutcheon). A writer (Colin Firth) who has escaped to France discovers love again. FAMILY STONE / IN HER SHOES / A GOOD YEAR
Family Stone: Holiday gatherings give screenwriters ideal circumstances in which to portray the comic and/or dramatic interaction within large families when they come together for one big special occasion. It’s even better if that family is eccentric or dysfunctional – and better still when an outsider is introduced into the group and quickly realises that he or she is way out of sync with this curious company. The Family Stone provides the kind of comic situation that delivers on all counts. The Stones are a bohemian New England family who unite for the Christmas season and are thrown into turmoil when the eldest son, Everett (Dermot Mulroney), comes home from Manhattan with his girlfriend, Meredith Morton (Sarah Jessica Parker), a tightly wound, high strung, immaculately groomed career woman whose controlling, rigid personality brings awkwardness, confusions and hostility to the Stone household.
In Her Shoes: One is a party girl who steals, lies and leeches off anyone she can. She believes that her looks will get her through anything, but her idea of sex is a drunken fumble in a bathroom during a high school reunion during which even the remotest hint of romance is demolished when she throws up. The other is a lawyer with low self-esteem and an ordered life which, when it includes a man, is something that she confesses, “does not usually happen to her”. At the moment, however, she has found herself in bed with her boss, Jim (Richard Burgi) and she likes him a lot. Maggie and Rose Feller (Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette) are sisters who could not be more unalike. When their differences finally push them apart they ultimately discover – through a grandmother (Shirley MacLaine) whose existence has been kept secret from them by their father (Ken Howard) – that they are incomplete without each other.
A Good Year: Gladiator director Ridley Scott reunites with Oscar winner Russell Crowe in a comedy about a highly successful investment expert, Max Skinner, who returns to the vineyard of his childhood when his estranged uncle dies. Intending to put his past behind him and sell the vineyard as quickly as possible, he instead discovers a part of himself that he’d lost since childhood.

FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH
Fast Times At Ridgemont High, directed by Amy Heckerling (CLUELESS, LOSER), is simply a modern cult classic. First-time screenwriter Cameron Crowe (JERRY MAGUIRE, ALMOST FAMOUS), went undercover as a high school student and came back with the straight dope on sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll, while capturing some of the most memorable screen characters ever. They're all here, from Stacy (Jennifer Jason Leigh from BACKDRAFT) and Linda's (Phoebe Cates from GREMLINS) sexual misadventures to go-getter Brad's (Judge Reinhold from BEVERLY HILLS COP) quick career in the world of fast food to the unforgettable Spicoli (Sean Penn from U TURN) as the ultimate surfer dude. And appearances by Nicholas Cage (from GONE IN 60 SECONDS), Anthony Edwards (from TOP GUN), Forest Whitaker (from PANIC ROOM) and Ray Walston (from THE STING) and you have an unbeatable cast. With all this talent behind it, no wonder Fast Times At Ridgemont High is as honest, fresh and funny as it was a generation ago.
