Product Description

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2016 DVD is the official release of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, filmed live in Melbourne in February 2016 – only the fourth time the Tattoo has ever toured outside Edinburgh! With this DVD, you can relive the greatest show on earth performed here in Australia, featuring 1,200 performers and bands from the UK, Scotland, Sweden, Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Australia. The event was produced by Brigadier David Allfrey (who has produced the last three Tattoos in Edinburgh) especially for performance in Melbourne. Featuring: - The stirring sight and sound of the Massed Pipes and Drums of Scotland’s famous regiments; - A life-size replica of Edinburgh Castle, with performers entering the stadium by crossing the drawbridge – just as they do in Edinburgh; - A spectacular finale, with the entire cast of more than 1,200 coming together to sing the international song of love and friendship, Auld Lang Syne.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo marched into Melbourne's Etihad Stadium for the first time ever in February 2016. Over 1200 military and civilian performers from around the globe made their way to Melbourne for a breathtaking performance that defines spectacular. Acts from the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Tonga, Fiji, New Zealand and Australia performed in front of an extraordinary, life-size replica of the Edinburgh Castle facade. At the heart of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo was the stirring sight and sound of the magnificent Massed Pipes and Drums of Scotland's famous regiments. This production, themed 'Fanfare for the Future', has been staged against the story of a last rifle shot being fired on the Gallipoli Peninsula, as Allied and ANZAC forces were withdrawn from Anzac Cove and Suvla Bay. Throughout the show, the storyline is rich in our collective history, a sense of common values and a shared purpose to contribute to a better world.
The grand finale drew together the entire cast of more than 1200 for that international song of love and friendship, Auld Lang Syne. The Lone Piper, standing high on the castle ramparts, brought the event to a poignant conclusion, leaving memories that will be treasured forever. The Melbourne 2016 event is only the fourth time that the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo has left Edinburgh.

Unfortunately I was unable to be at the live performance in February this year.
However,if the DVD is 80% + as good as the recent
television showing: it will be a DVD I treasure for ever.
