Directed by Andy Muschietti (Mama), is based on the hugely popular Stephen King novel of the same name, which has been terrifying readers for decades. When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.

Stephen King Done Right

Its hard to make a Stephen King story into a movie for some reason. Some attempts have been terrible. This one is just right. It captures the young experience of the story protagonists extremely well and has just the right mix of horror, action and drama.
Its interesting that the film makers chose to untangle the two parts of the story in the book, the childhood experience and then the return to Derry and "It" as adults, into two separate films in strict chronological order. Its one of the few times I feel a film has improved on Stephen King's original story telling.
