Departures DVD from DVDLand.
Daigo Kobayashi is a cellist whose orchestra has been dissolved. Unemployed, he and his wife return to his hometown where he answers a job ad entitled Departures presuming it is for a travel agent. He discovers to his horror that the ad is actually for the contemptible job of nokanshi, a funerary celebrant who prepares bodies for entry into the next life, and Daigo must reconcile this new role with his dreams for the future.

Unusual and Refreshingly Different

This movie is fantastic for lovers of foreign films. The first 15mins is a little slow to get into, but then after that a great storyline appears and it gets more interesting and then more culturally inspiring of another cultures customs in the 21st century. A great movie and one that I will watch time and time again.
