THE CAT AND THE CANARY (1939): Ten years after the death of millionaire Cyrus Norman, his will is to be read out to his six relatives, including Joyce Norman (Paulette Goddard) and Wally Campbell. Organised by Norman's lawyer, Crosby (George Zucco), the six meet at Norman's eerie New Orleans Gothic mansion. During the reading, the superstitious housekeeper declares that someone will be dead by midnight. Wally fears for Joyce when she is declared the sole inheritor, but all are alarmed when Crosby turns up dead.

THE GHOST BREAKERS (1940): After intrepid working girl Mary Carter (Paulette Goddard) becomes the new owner of a reputedly haunted mansion located on Black Island near the Cuban coast, a stranger (Anthony Quinn) phones to warn her to stay away from the castle. Undaunted, Mary sets sail for Cuba with a stowaway in her trunk--wise-cracking Larry Lawrence, a radio announcer who helps Mary get to the bottom of the voodoo magic, zombies and ghosts that supposedly curse the spooky estate.

CAUGHT IN THE DRAFT (1941): Don Bolton is a movie star with a phobia about loud noises. Not wanting to give up his career and his easy life, he plans to dodge the military draft by getting married. Don meets the lovely Tony Fairbanks (Dorothy Lamour) when she visits his set with her father, Peter (Clarence Kolb), a colonel, and the two are soon engaged. In an effort to boost Tony's opinion of him, Don pretends to join the army. The ruse backfires, however, and he finds himself actually enlisted.

LOUISIANA PURCHASE (1941): Facing a corruption probe headed by Senator Oliver Loganberry (Victor Moore), a few shady Louisiana businessmen try to blame their crimes on associate Jim Taylor. Taylor, meanwhile, tries to manoeuvre the senator into a sex scandal by arranging for a meeting between Loganberry and exotic bombshell Marina Von Minden (Vera Zorina). But Taylor himself develops feelings for Von Minden, and, as this musical satire heads for home, the combatants brace for a showdown at the state capital.

MY FAVOURITE BLONDE (1942): Vaudevillian Larry Haines sets out for California seeking fame and fortune, but instead he finds himself entangled in a world of intrigue and espionage. On the train ride to the coast, Haines meets Karen Bentley (Madeleine Carroll), a beautiful Brit with a big secret: She's a spy who is carrying top-secret codes. When Nazi agents assume Haines and Bentley are colleagues, they frame Haines for murder, forcing the mismatched duo to go on the lam together.

His sailor son, Johnny (Eddie Bracken), however, thinks his dad is a major executive. MONSIEUR BEAUCAIRE (1946): Monsieur Beaucaire is the barber to France's King Louis XV--that is, until the royal hairstylist takes up with chambermaid Mimi (Joan Caulfield) and is subsequently banished from the kingdom. Forced to assume someone else's identity, Beaucaire quickly gets wrapped up in an outrageous web of political intrigue, involving an impending war between France and Spain, an assassination plot and his own potential marriage to the Princess of Spain.
