The Good Life DVD box set shows self-sufficiency? In suburbia? You must be joking!

The Good Life is regarded as a national treasure and one of the best British sitcoms ever by critics and audiences alike. Tired of the rat race and looking for more from life, Tom Good (Richard Briers) decides to quit his job and become self-sufficien, all without leaving his cosy suburban home. His wife, Barbara (Felicity Kendal), agrees to his outlandish plan, and without a second thought they've dug up their well-laid lawn and turned it into a vegetable plot. A goat, pigs, and chickens soon follow.

Their best friends and neighbours, Margo (Penelope Keith) and Jerry Leadbetter (Paul Eddington), think they've gone mad, especially Margo, the ultimate middle-class suburban snob. Can the Goods really live off the land in the suburbs of London? Can the Leadbetters stand it if they do?
