On The Buses follows the fortunes of London bus drivers Jack Harper, Stan Butler, and their nemesis, Inspector ‘Blakey’ Blake. Jack and Stan are a couple of likely lads who enjoy doing what most young lads do – watching girls and getting into scrapes. However, their lot is complicated by the fact that Stan lives at home with his mum and frumpy sister Olive, who plague his every turn. Furthermore, Blakey – with his catchphrase ‘ooh I ‘ate you, Butler’ – is forever at their shoulder ready to scotch any designs they may have on anything but driving buses.

The British television series On The Buses became an international hit, with a dedicated fanbase still active to this day. The misadventures of bus driver Stan Butler, his dysfunctional family, mate-in-mischief Jack, and overbearing boss “Blakey” were so successful that Hammer Films produced not one, but three big screen adaptations which sent the sitcom premise on a new route.
